The 2019 Mala will donate to 3 Charities.
The first charity:
GOA is an award-winning, vegan sanctuary for special needs baby goats (along with other animal friends that we just have to help). GOA is a registered charity (501c3) and all tax deductible donations go towards vet fees, food, shelter and prosthetics for the baby goats.
Join us for the 10th Annual Global Mala on the Asbury Park Boardwalk, back where we belong!
We will announce the charities that the 2019 Mala will support in the coming weeks, as well as a full list of our teachers.
For now, we can confirm that Regine Flimlin, the founder of the NJ Mala, will be taking the stage for the first time to lead a portion of our 108 practice!
If you've never attended a Mala, here is what you need to know:
Our original inspiration was Shiva Rea, who created the first Global Mala in 2007. Her goal is and was to bring the global yoga community together from every continent, school, and approach to form a “mala around the earth”.
From there, we were - and continue to be - inspired by community. We come together to do 108 sun salutations (yes! 108!) to raise awareness and funds for charity, inspire connection, deepen our collective intention to serve, create some seriously good karma, and have an incredibly memorable yoga-marathon together.
The NJ yoga family has celebrated the Mala for the last 9 years, with leadership, guidance, and mindful action by Regine, her husband Enrique, and Christian & Dana Valeriani, the owners of Evenflow Yoga in Red Bank, NJ.
Come and join us on September 15, 2019.
