WYS will provide Storytelling 101 @ Project HEAL’s (PH) first camp! PH is teaming up with a bunch of amazing partners to bring you our first ever retreat that celebrates eating disorder recovery, self-care, body-positivity, and empowerment. Located in Angeles State Forest, from September 27-29, 2019 Camp HEAL will include workshops and recovery-friendly outdoor activities led by celebrity champions, influencers, and partnering organizations. In addition to the programming available for all participants, this initiative also includes special enrichment trainings for our chapter leaders and chapter executive teams.
Save the date for an evening of music by Durham’s old friend, singer-songwriter, Dave Howland with storytelling by local and regional storytellers! We will be fundraising to help The Freedom Cafe, everyone’s favorite non-profit specialty café continue its work toward ending human trafficking and the commercial exploitation of all people.

Storytelling is a timeless skill through which we can find truth and
understanding. At this event, coordinated by Robyn Shumer, a
storytelling coach and storyteller in her own right, some of Robyn’s
protégés will share stories of life changing events. Speakers include
Museum volunteer Lola Kline who will reveal the story of survival of her
family during the Second World War. Other speakers include Susanne
Peticolas, who speaks about assisting refugees; Jackie Allgood who
survived several cancer diagnoses; Elissa Torres who talks about human
trafficking; and Robin Shumer’s talk of overcoming obstacles to become a
